These statements were made on February 13, 2006.

State Senator Mitchell: I support the right of Falun Gong members to meditate and assemble peacefully. I deplore China’s human rights violations and it’s interference with the right of Falun Gong members.”

 

State Senator Lois Tochtrop: “I am outraged by the assault. Nobody should be harmed for his or her spiritual belief. This is basic civil rights in our country. This is a deplorable act. I hope these people will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The United States does not condone these acts of violence. I would be happy to co-sponsor a senate resolution on this issue.”

 

State Representative Tom Plant: expresses that he is supportive of Falun Gong and that he is concerned for the safety of Falun Gong practitioners. He condemns the terrorist act by the Chinese communist agents. If there is a resolution from Falun Gong he will co-sponsor it.

 

State Representative Merrifield: “If there is a resolution that condemns the terrorist act by the Chinese communist agents against Falun Gong practitioners then we will support it.

 

State Senator Owen: expresses concern over the Atlanta assault this past Wednesday and supports Falun Gong.

 

State Senator Kester: says that he supports the press conference and condemns China’s persecution of Falun Gong and the recent Atlanta incident.
